For the past month I’ve been trying out the World Mobile Global Access eSIM to see how well it holds up in everyday use and while traveling. From setup to coverage and security, I wanted to know if it really delivers on its promises.
Purchase and activation
Account creation
Creating the account was simple. Instead of setting up a password, World Mobile sends a short magic code to your email. Enter the code and you’re in. It’s quick, secure, and saves you from managing yet another login. As long as your email is protected, your account stays protected too.
The plans available
From the main menu, choosing Plans > Mobile Plans brings you to three options: Essential USA, Advanced USA, and Global Access. Each plan shows the price, data allowance, and features in a clear layout.
Because I’m based in Singapore, only the Global Access plan was available. The Essential and Advanced USA plans are for U.S. users.
Plan selection
After picking a plan, the next page confirms your choice, shows the monthly price, and links to the broadband fact sheet.
The Global Access plan is $70 a month for 20GB of high-speed data across 73 countries. It’s data-only, so no calls or texts, but that works for me since I use WhatsApp for most communication.
It also includes $1 million in SIM swap and ID theft insurance, access to Premier Rewards, no contract lock-in, and privacy features like encryption and decentralized storage.
Payment and checkout
You can pay monthly, every 6 months, or yearly. I went with the yearly plan at $840.
Payment can be made in USD by card or in crypto. If you choose crypto, it can take up to 20 minutes for the transaction to confirm on the blockchain. I paid by card.
You confirm by checking the terms and conditions box, with an option to sign up for updates and offers. Then click Checkout.
eSIM activation
After checkout, you get a confirmation screen and an email with a QR code. Scanning the code installs the eSIM instantly. On my iPhone 14 Pro it worked straight away: no store visit, no SIM tray swaps. Within minutes, I was online.
Real-world use
Speed and coverage
I used the Global Access plan for most of the month in Singapore, with a short trip to Malaysia. Coverage was solid in both places. In Singapore and Johor Bahru I had full 5G almost all the time, running on Singtel’s network.
Speed tests were strong: over 500 Mbps on Ookla and Fast, and around 100 Mbps on Google Speed Test. Easily enough for streaming, calls, and work.
Tethering worked well. I shared the connection with my laptop and my partner’s phone, three devices in total, and speeds stayed consistent.
Calls and messages
The Global Access plan doesn’t support traditional calls, so everything runs on data. I used WhatsApp for voice and video calls, and it worked fine: clear audio and smooth video every time.
If you still rely on voice minutes, you’ll want to keep your main SIM active. I used a dual-SIM setup: M1 for calls and texts, and World Mobile for global data. That combination worked perfectly.
Privacy and security features
The plan includes a built-in VPN, encrypted connectivity, SIM-swap protection, and up to $1 million in fraud insurance. It all runs quietly in the background. You don’t notice any slowdown, it just works. With scams and data breaches in the news constantly, it’s good to know my data, account, and connection are kept private and secure.
Cross-border experience
I took the bus from Singapore to Johor Bahru, less than 2 km across the causeway. The border crossing was quick and easy.
The eSIM stayed connected the whole time. No need to swap SIM cards or tweak settings. Once in Malaysia, it switched to a local network automatically. Speeds dipped compared to Singapore but were still good enough for apps, video calls, and browsing.
Rewards and perks
When you subscribe to a plan, you unlock Premier Rewards, World Mobile’s staking system that lets you earn with WMTx. The more you stake, the higher your tier and the better your perks.
I’m in the Silver Tier (10,000 WMTx staked). That gives me:
- 5% cashback on my plan each month, paid in WMTx
- A 4% boost on referral rewards
- Priority access to AirNode sales
- Early access to new features and insider updates
- Priority support when needed
What makes World Mobile different is that you’re not just paying a bill. By staking, you become part of the system and share in the value the network creates.
Price and value
At $70 a month for 20GB in 70+ countries, it isn’t the cheapest travel SIM. But you’re not just paying for data. You’re getting reliable coverage, built-in privacy tools, and fraud insurance.
World Mobile also doesn’t cut corners on partner networks. Speeds have been consistent everywhere I tried.
20GB isn’t huge, but it’s manageable. I downloaded movies and playlists on Wi-Fi before going out, avoided heavy streaming on mobile, and used Wi-Fi when I could. For maps, browsing, email, and daily use, it was more than enough.
Dashboard and multiple plans
Adding extra plans is simple and follows the same process. On the dashboard you see which plans are active, your remaining data, cost per month, staking tier, and current rewards.
My verdict :

After a month on Global Access, it gave me what I wanted: reliable data, strong privacy, and smooth roaming across borders. At $70 a month it isn’t the cheapest, but the best-in-class coverage, speed and security features make it worth it.
It’s more than just getting online. It’s a connection you can trust, with privacy and protection running quietly in the background and rewards that tie you into the network. If you travel often, work remotely, or care about privacy and reliability, Global Access is easy to recommend.
