If I use a bespoke phone number and the privacy features on World Mobile Chain, will that help reduce or stop scam texts? Or are they still inevitable no matter what?
Welcome to the community, @oldtoad!
World Mobile does a lot to reduce scam texts, but they aren’t completely unavoidable. Your data isn’t sold or monetized, and the built-in VPN adds extra privacy and encryption. That alone helps a lot compared to traditional carriers.
That said, if you share your number with third parties and agree to their terms, they can still sell your data, which could lead to scam texts.
World Mobile, via EarthNode Operators (ENOs), are working on stopping robocalls and spam texts before they even reach you. So over time, this should improve even more.
World Mobile definitely gives you a better baseline for privacy with your data isn’t being sold, and the way traffic is handled through their own infrastructure adds some extra protection.
That said, scam texts are still a thing. If your number ends up in the wrong hands (like from a data breach or some sketchy signup), those messages can still get through. It’s just part of how the system works right now.
The team’s working on blocking more of that junk at the network level through EarthNodes, but in the meantime, using something like RoboKiller can help filter out the worst of it on your device. Not perfect, but it helps.
