What Speeds Does World Mobile Offer? Are There Plans for 5G?

With other carriers offering 5G, I’m curious about the speeds available on World Mobile - I couldn’t see any details apart from priority high-speed data.

  • What network speeds does World Mobile provide?
  • Is it comparable to 4G LTE or 5G on traditional networks?
  • If not, are there plans to increase speeds in the future?

Hey @anon95537395 :waving_hand:

World Mobile runs on the same modern networks you’d expect from a major carrier, so speeds are right in line with today’s 4G LTE and 5G service.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • 5G: about 200–540 Mbps download / 20–55 Mbps upload
  • 4G LTE: about 110–170 Mbps download / 10–30 Mbps upload
  • Latency: typically 90–180 ms, depending on location

Right now, service rides on AT&T and T-Mobile’s nationwide networks. Verizon is next on the roadmap, which will round out coverage across all three major carriers.

On top of that, World Mobile is building out its own AirNode layer. Those community-powered nodes add capacity and fill in gaps where coverage is thin. The mix of licensed carrier networks plus AirNodes means performance today is strong, and it’ll only keep getting better as the network grows.
