Who are DITO Telecommunity & Dtaka
DITO Telecommunity is the Philippines’ third-largest mobile network operator, with over 13 million subscribers. The country has more than 110 million people, yet around 29 million still lack reliable internet access, especially in rural areas across its 7,000+ islands.
Dtaka is a new blockchain-based financial platform built on the World Mobile Chain. It will launch alongside the network rollout, giving users a mobile wallet for payments, remittances, and rewards tied to network participation.

What they do and mission
Closing the coverage gap: DITO and World Mobile are working to expand affordable, high-speed internet to underserved areas using a hybrid Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN). AirNodes will connect to whatever backhaul works best for each location, such as Starlink’s satellite service, local fiber, or other available infrastructure, and then extend coverage through a wireless mesh.
Driving financial inclusion: Dtaka will provide:
- A stable token for mobile money and everyday payments, including remittances.
- A utility and rewards token for hosting nodes, referring users, and supporting the network.
The goal is to give people not just internet access, but also the digital tools to take part in the mobile-first economy.
How they work with World Mobile
Roles: DITO brings national-scale telecom infrastructure, licensed spectrum, and a large existing customer base. World Mobile provides the AirNode network, blockchain systems for authentication and payments, and the sharing-economy model that rewards contributors.
Collaboration model: AirNodes will serve both DITO’s existing subscribers and pay-as-you-go users. Local operators can earn from the usage their nodes generate. Dtaka integrates the payment and rewards system directly into the mobile experience, linking connectivity with financial empowerment.
Why it works: Building traditional towers across thousands of islands is expensive and slow. World Mobile’s modular, community-powered approach scales faster, costs less, and invites people to be part of the rollout instead of just customers.
