Hi @TMRJ,
Currently, when you purchase a Link AirNode, it’s not possible to select in advance which subscriber package will be associated with it or where exactly it will be deployed. This means that the earnings potential does vary and isn’t predictable upfront, unlike the Spark AirNode which provides clearer and more stable earnings.
If your Link AirNode is placed at a busy business location, the potential earnings can be significantly higher, allowing you to potentially recover your investment within just a few months at higher-tier subscriber plans. Conversely, if it’s placed at an everyday family home, the ROI will likely be more modest, as families typically won’t spend hundreds of dollars per month on internet access.
Regarding your concern about potentially earning $0: this scenario is quite unlikely. World Mobile’s model is designed so that if a subscriber cancels their subscription, the AirNode can be redeployed to another active customer location. This helps ensure continuous earnings for operators.
In the future, especially with the global rollout of HD1, there might be more visibility into Link deployment locations and earning potential, but right now that level of details isn’t available.
IMO - Links are a bit more like a lottery, you hope to avoid getting the subscriber on the lowest subscription tier. It’s all worth it if you get the business one though. If you prefer to derisk your exposure, investing in Sparks or aiming for Portal / Apex would be a better investment.
